Broker's Comments

Every now and then one finds a yacht which is an absolute pleasure to photograph. Clean, tidy, clutter-free. This GibSea 284 has been beautifully maintained by an experienced and knowledgeable owner who likes a “place for everything and everything in its place.”

Most of her time is spent cruising, and she has visited both sides of the Channel on numerous occasions. She has ample accommodation for extended holidays, a good galley, spacious heads and a saloon table big enough to enable you to actually enjoy your family meals. Very comfortable, very safe, a great family boat.

It also happens that I have sailed in this particular yacht, having accompanied the owner in a club race, and I can vouch for her performance and agility. I was interested to find that she tracks extremely well on a beat and is much stiffer than one may at first suppose. I ought to add that the owner is no “gung ho” racer – his ship is sailed fast and with skill, not with brute force and ignorance!

Have a look at the photos of the engine – it reminds me of those you see on the stands at boat shows; all clean and shiny, and if you look in the bilge you will see nothing at all; the sign that she is properly maintained by a proper seaman. Other benefits include a Maxprop feathering propeller for speed under sail, and a rope cutter to prevent you from finding yourself moored by your prop off Portland Bill!

So, photos are all very well, and they do give you plenty of detail, but the only way to appreciate what this lively boat is all about is to come and see her. Give me a ring on 07885 521960 and we can get along and do just that.
