Well what a busy year! I still stand by my original sentiment – this job isn’t a job, it’s a way of life. The great bonus is meeting some really marvellous people – boat buyers and sellers alike, all of us benefit from a love of all things nautical, and I’ve even seen the odd surveyor break into a smile!

Boatshed Port Solent has grown, we now look after most of the Eastern side of Portsmouth Harbour, from Wicor in the West right down to Gunwharf Quays and Camber Quay, and we are even helping out down at Southsea and Eastney in the South-east.

I thought life in the forces would prepare me for the notion of “maintaining one’s flexibility,” but what a huge range of boats we have sold in and around Port Solent this past 12 months! From £2000 right up to £100,000 plus, from little sailing boats to fly-bridge cruisers, from Princess to Bavaria, from Hardy to Jeanneau and all points in between!

My little Westerly is still to be seen plodding along on the Solent, occasionally accelerating to walking pace and beyond. We have branched out, and our sailing now includes chartering in Turkey – great fun, and as you can see below, we had a nice big Bavaria 42 - the trouble is you get the bug, and soon you’ll be banging on my door looking for a bigger, newer boat.
