This cruise in company from Plymouth's recently re-furbished Mayflower Marina to the Algarve is a great way to head south, whether to the Med or onwards to the Canaries and an Atlantic crossing.

Full of friendly, fun and relaxed fellow boaters, it offers safety when crossing the Bay of Biscay and convenience during the day-long hops down Portugal's fascinating coast.

This year has 21 yachts taking part in the annual Yachting Monthly Rally Portugal Mayflower Marina's Managing director, Charles Bush, commented on how it’s always good to host such a charming bunch of people and be part of the Rally.

They set off under grey sky out into Plymouth Sound after a good old get together in the local marina bar for a spot of socialising the evening before.
The current grey southerlies were due to give way to stronger northerly winds, offering great conditions for the 550 nautical mile crossing of the Bay of Biscay to Bayona.

From there the rally takes in stopovers in the following ports; Póvoa de Varzim; Leixões; Figueira da Foz; Peniche; Cascais; Sines and Lagos. With the fun atmosphere sure to follow!
