The Boatshed conference 2011 was a great success. Two days spent in and around Portsmouth Dockyard as well as Boatshed HQ in Gosport; with lots of lectures, group meetings and workshops. Approximately 30 Boatsheds came to the event, travelling from destinations across Europe and even as far as Phuket in the Far East.
This week sees Boatshed.com pass the 400,000 registered customer mark.

Sometimes, I come to the conclusion you just get too many emails. Anyhow, whilst poring through Friday’s delivery of the odd two or three hundred emails in my inbox, I noticed one titled Rib Raid; nothing to do with technical redundancy on servers. When I opened it, I found it was an invitation to go and join the guys at Boatshed, Hamble for a brief soiree around the Solent.
UK is one of the new countries to introduce a professional boat sales qualification which has been championed by the Boat Retailers and Brokers Association (BRBA) and the Association of Brokers and Yacht Agents (ABYA) to promote a proper code of conduct and best practice in the industry.

Hurrah! After just two full seasons trading, Boatshed Port Solent has cracked the £1 million sales barrier! I’m sure many Boatshed offices have passed this mark long since, but it still means a great deal to me, and I will be celebrating every day at the PSP Southampton International Boat Show. Come along to our stand (B053) just by the footbridge that crosses to the marina area at five o’clock each day and have yourself a glass of fizz, courtesy of Boatshed.com and me, Boatshed Port Solent owner Ian Dawes.

It’s amazing how the “London bus theory” can apply to yacht brokerage here at Boatshed Port Solent! All of a sudden I find myself marketing quite a few “little old boats!” I love them – I own one myself, and the real joy of these little darlings is meeting the people that own and sail them, and indeed the people who buy them!. They (the people) are mostly durable, flexible, seamanlike and above all cheerful. Actually you could apply that to the boats too!
Boatshed Yacht Brokers are a social bunch so they seize upon any opportunity to get together. The Boatshed European annual Conference for 2010 was held over looking sailing boats and motor boats in Albufeira Marina at the offices of Boatshed Algarve.

The Mary Rose, one of the most famous ships in the world, is soon to be “listed” by Boatshed Port Solent! Not only will she be the oldest ship to appear on our recently updated website, but she will be the most valuable – we are looking for a figure of £35 million, YES £35 MILLION!
The array of electronic goodies and gadgets available for boats is mind blowing and the advertising for them seems to insist you’d be foolish to venture out without all of them so Boatshed Plymouth called by “Just Right” one of this year’s Jester Challenge entrants to see what electronics Gus Davidson will be using to get him and his 20’ Golant Gaffer safely across the pond. Gus has a keen eye on the budget as he’s raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support so he weighs the cost of each piece of equipment carefully to ensure as much money as possible goes to the charity.
We need your help to save two magnificent craft who are facing an uncertain future.
